Welcome to the School
A message from the Head Teacher
We are a long established independent preparatory school for girls and boys aged 4 to 11 years, based in Morley town centre.
The ethos of the school is rooted in traditional Christian values, although our school community welcomes children from a wider
multi-cultural background.
We have small classes and a balanced curriculum in an environment that is safe, secure and caring. Emphasis is placed on traditional
values within a modern learning environment and our children are stimulated and challenged by well qualified, experienced and dedicated
staff. We aim to help each child reach their potential, preparing them for their secondary education, whether in the private or state
sector. Our record of success in entering children for entrance examinations is excellent.
We also recognise the need to prepare our children to take up their place in society and this is reflected in the pastoral care we
offer: every child is an individual and developing the "whole person" is at the very centre of our values.
Our children are taught to respect others around them, to respect themselves and the fabric of their community.
If you are able to visit us I believe you will be immediately embraced by the confidence of the children. All our children are
coached in spoken English and they take part in assemblies, school productions and many have the opportunity to perform to a wider
audience.
Self-confidence and self-esteem are very important in today's world, and preparing our pupils for a happy and successful
future is at the heart of Wakefield Tutorial Preparatory School.
We have recently implemented a sports development plan to ensure that our children have the opportunity to take part in team games
and individual sports. These activities help to develop fitness, group skills and help increase confidence. We have made many links with
other schools in sporting competitions and we now use the ground at Morley Rugby Football Club and Scatcherd Sports Centre in addition
to our own school facilities.
I am truly proud of Wakefield Tutorial Preparatory School and the progress we have made in developing the curriculum and improving
the fabric of school over the past few years. We are committed to continuing this, ensuring that the children who come to this school
are given the best possible start in life.
I hope you find our website useful and I invite you to make an appointment to visit us.
I look forward to meeting you.
